THG Studios is an integrated creative and production agency helping ambitious brands create high-quality content, build stronger connections with their audiences and deliver measurable growth. 

Based in Manchester, we bring creative, production and technology together under one roof. Our work spans high-volume e-commerce content, social-first campaigns, brand platforms, immersive experiences and technology-led activations. 

We work with a broad range of well-known brands, including Disney, L’Oréal, Myprotein, LOOKFANTASTIC, ASDA, Sky Vegas, Warner Bros., Jet2, Swizzels, Avolta and The Overlap. 

As THG Studios continues to grow, we are looking for an ambitious and commercially focused Managing Director to lead the agency and build on its strong creative, production and technology capabilities. 

The Role 

The Managing Director will set the strategic direction for THG Studios and take overall accountability for its growth, commercial performance and market position. 

With full P&L ownership, you will be responsible for delivering sustainable revenue and profit growth, developing the agency’s proposition and identifying new opportunities across existing clients, new business and strategic partnerships. 

You will lead and support the senior leadership team, including the Group Creative Director, General Managers and Client Partners. You will also play an active role in senior client relationships, major pitches, strategic opportunities and escalated matters. 

This role requires a proven leader from the creative, production, content or agency sector who understands how to grow a successful business. You will need to combine commercial focus with creative ambition, strong operational discipline and the ability to build a high-performing team. 

Key Responsibilities 

Strategy and growth 

• Set the strategic direction for THG Studios and lead the delivery of its growth plan. 
• Identify new markets, sectors, services, partnerships and revenue opportunities. 
• Develop and strengthen THG Studios’ agency proposition and competitive position. 
• Build on the agency’s existing capabilities to increase its value to clients and unlock new commercial opportunities. 
• Ensure growth plans are focused, measurable and aligned with the businesses wider objectives. 

Commercial and P&L ownership 

• Take full ownership of the THG Studios P&L and deliver agreed revenue and profit targets. 
• Drive sustainable growth across existing client accounts, new business and strategic partnerships. 
• Ensure strong commercial discipline across pricing, margins, forecasting and client profitability. 
• Make informed decisions about investment in people, technology and capabilities to support growth. 
• Monitor commercial performance and take action where performance is not on track. 

Client leadership and new business 

• Be ultimately accountable for client retention, account growth and new business performance. 
• Lead and support the Client Partners and Business Development team, who will manage day-to-day client and new business activity. 
• Maintain senior relationships with key clients and become involved in strategic accounts, major opportunities and escalated matters. 
• Support or lead significant pitches, tenders, negotiations and partnership opportunities. 
• Ensure the agency is consistently identifying opportunities to increase its share of client spend. 

Leadership and market position 

• Set clear strategic priorities, accountabilities and measures of success across the agency. 
• Ensure the leadership team is aligned behind the growth strategy and equipped to deliver it. 
• Build a high-performing, commercially focused culture centred on growth, creativity and client value. 
• Raise the profile of THG Studios within the creative, production and wider marketing industry. 
• Represent THG Studios with senior clients, partners and stakeholders. 
• Build relationships that strengthen the agency’s reputation, reach and access to new opportunities. 

About You 

You will be an experienced senior leader from a creative agency, production company, content business, media organisation or related environment, with a proven track record of delivering growth. You will have experience of: 

• Growing revenue and profitability across an agency, production or creative services business. 
• Developing and delivering a clear growth strategy, with evidence of achieving measurable results. 
• Winning new clients, expanding existing accounts and increasing share of client spend. 
• Identifying new markets, services, partnerships and commercial opportunities. 
• Building or repositioning an agency proposition to strengthen its competitive position. 
• Taking full P&L ownership and making sound commercial decisions around pricing, margins, investment and profitability. 
• Leading senior teams through periods of growth, change or business development. 
• Building strong relationships with senior clients and stakeholders. 
• Leading major pitches, tenders, negotiations and strategic partnerships. 
• Understanding the creative and production market, including changing client expectations, technology and new ways of working. 
• Combining commercial ambition with a strong understanding of creative quality and client value. 
• Communicating a clear vision and bringing people with you.
