The Role
This role needs both strong technical 3D CAD skills and a real eye for industrial design. You will create visually appealing, commercially successful products that are also precise and practical to manufacture. Product design skills, aesthetic judgment and the ability to build a coherent design language matter as much as CAD proficiency. We are looking for a designer, not only a CAD technician.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience in 3D CAD, industrial design and consumer product development
- Proven experience designing complete consumer products for commercial production and retail, balancing function, ergonomics, aesthetics and market appeal (mandatory)
- Strong aesthetic judgment: proportions, visual balance, form development, styling and a recognizable design language (mandatory)
- Advanced modeling of organic shapes, complex surfaces and geometric textures
- Strong parametric CAD skills: feature-based design, design history, assemblies, editable solid and surface geometry
- Design for manufacturing, especially laser cutting, CNC milling and machining
- Delivery of production-ready STEP files with accurate solid and surface geometry
- Ability to take products from concept and aesthetic development to manufacturing-ready CAD
- A portfolio showing both technical CAD work and refined consumer product design (mandatory). Portfolios of only mechanical parts or engineering assemblies will not qualify.
- Fluent written and spoken English
Nice to Have
- Experience designing handheld tools with a metal blade, or other high-end consumer products with premium finishes and refined geometry
- SolidWorks and/or CATIA
- Complex surface textures and ergonomic product geometry
- Building a consistent design language across a product family or collection
- Prototyping, material selection and production optimization
Job Type: Part-time, remote, hourly
